Rick with the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers
courtesy of his friend Steve Ehrenworth's Photoshop skills.
Rick was a phenomenal athlete in high school and college. Though he had a degree in accounting, after a short-lived term as a minor league baseball player (he injured his pitching arm), he began a career as a parole officer. Things went well until his partner was found in a barrel floating in the ocean.
Shortly after, Rick found his true calling as a special education teacher, a position that allowed him to combine his love of math and tremendous affection for children. He earned his second master's degree in education and continued taking classes until his retirement.
Along the way, Rick became fascinated with duplicate bridge, earning over 17,000 master points and winning hundreds of tournament titles. He loved fantasy baseball, usually ending the season with his team high in the rankings.
Most of all, Rick loved his family...
his son Marc and wife Jen, their sons Sean, Andrew, and Craig, sister Leslie and her family, his many friends, my family, and me for over 40 years. Rick surely deserves to rest in peace.
With all my love,
Laura
